Kitten’s Escape Thwarted by Paralyzing Fear of Outside
A local kitten’s daring escape was thwarted earlier today by what appears to have been a paralyzing fear of the outside. Once Henry the cat had cleared the front door, witnesses say his eyes grew very wide and he became very still.
“Then a twig snapped,” recounted on witness, “and he bolted under the front steps.”
It took authorities and crisis counselors two hours two hours to coax Henry from his hiding place, but he is now safe at home, resting with his family.

Area Cats Reject Reality, Live in Fantasy World
A pair of local cats, Dora the tuxedo and Luna the tabby, have declared their basement the “Barony of Fluff,” and are refusing to speak to anyone who doesn’t recognize the made-up kingdom.
“It’s lunacy,” said Susan Wolpert, who lets the basement to the kitties. “They owe me two months rent, but now they’re claiming that I owe them because of some archaic, feudal land-grant system they’ve set up.”
The two cats have reportedly built a fortress out of old cardboard boxes and are preparing for a long siege.

Bunny Eats Carrots Strangely
Authorities are baffled by Hollis, a rabbit with an odd habit. Hollis only eats the middles of carrots.
“We’ve taken him to see psychiatrists, nutritionists, sociologists, paranormal investigators — no one knows why he’s doing it,” said Sam Whitlock, a friend of the bunny. “It’s like he’s trying to tell us something, but what?”
According to Whitlock, they tried switching Hollis to parsnips last week to see if the message changed, but he did the same thing: only ate the middles.
They’re going to try celery next.

Illusions of Life
Painting has always been used to mimic our surroundings. Whether it was used be Ancient civilizations on wall frescoes, or whether it hung in the grand palaces of Renaissance nobles, natural motifs such as plants and wildlife were studied in order to paint the most lifelike rendition.
Now, art is freer, with many movements happening at once. Realism seems to have been pushed back, with artists now focusing on the expression of their work, and how it stirs emotions. This is why artists, who focus on realism in their art, are finding new ways of making it relevant to today’s tastes. Artists Riusuke Fukahori and Keng Lye use layers of resin to bring their aquatic creatures to life, in a visually stunning display of three-dimensional optical illusions. Instead of using a flat canvas, painting on water, and then the creatures, these artists pour resin into jars, bowls or boxes, and paint their fish and turtles, one layer at a time, with more resin poured in between each coat of paint. The process is like that of a 3-D printer, a new technology that many artists are using in their contemporary works. Through the mimicking of this new art process, their realist style of art is able to join the ranks of contemporary artists.-Anna Paluch
